Austin, TX

Type: Bond

Outcome: Uncounted

Results: Pass, 59% - 41%

The Urban Transportation Commission has asked the Austin city council to consider placing an $800 million bond measure for light rail on the November ballot.  The ballot for the November elections must be set by August 8th.  The City Council has now endorsed a $720 million mobility bond proposal, which doesn’t include any funding for rail in Austin.  The Central Austin Community Development Corporation (CACDC) worked hard to try to get the city council to incorporate a $380 million plan for light rail into the package before the city finalized the language, but were unfortunately unsuccessful.  A very small portion of the funding in the mobility bond will go to constructing covered bus stops.
