Ventura County, CA

Type: Sales Tax

Outcome: Loss

Results: Fail, 57% - 43%

Local officials have voted to place a sales tax measure on the ballot in November.  It is a 30-year half cent sales tax that raises $3.3 billion total, half of which ($1.65 billion) would go to the county for regional freeway projects, rail and bus service improvements, transportation technology management, environmental mitigation and bike and pedestrian path improvements.  Ventura County is the only county in southern California that does not have a sales tax in place to raise money for transportation projects.
