State Ballot Process
Alaska offers the following ballot measure procedures: initiative, referendum and recall. Citizens cannot make appropriations or amend the state constitution using any of these ballot measures. Sponsors must file signed ballot measure petitions within 365 days after they receive notice from the Lieutenant Governor that the petition forms are ready for delivery. Petitions must be signed by qualified voters equal in number to 10% of those who voted in the preceding General Election.
